Mountain Top Retreat
Construction of this custom cottage of 602 sq. ft. reached completion within 5 months. It is conventionally framed on a poured and seismically reinforced foundation. It sits atop Mt. Tuam on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, with a commanding view of the Cascade Range of Mountains including Mounts St.Helens, Ranier and Baker.
It’s exterior is HardiPanel fibrous cement board finished in a traditional “board and batten” style, offering the look and feel of wood products along with the longevity of a masonry product. It has a significant crawl-space where all of the mechanical components are housed. Some of the interior finishes include a solid, “shaker” style, maple kitchen with black granite counters. The Hemlock interior door package, also in the “shaker” style, is sharply contrasted by the cream coloured trims which consist of custom mouldings and details.
